Four Days In LuAhville

Adventuring in Louisville for 4 days this month, truly enjoying the city. We are staying at the beautiful Galt House. Finding great walkable places to explore, hope you enjoy the tour. We Californias are sure learning how to keep warm here in December… About to venture out into the cold. Triple dressed here, lol. Our 1st day in the city I believe it was in the mid 20’s, we did not let that stop us, off we trotted throughly bundled up to sight-see anyway. Walking down Main St. we came across this quaint little park space. I shared a bench with this handsome Southern gent. We came across the Slugger museum. We visited the Frazier Museum, what a wonderful permenate collection and great special exhibits as well. I especially liked the Pearl Harbor exhibit, the collection is quite powerful and very moving. I was so moved by this exhibit, it is really a must see. Moving on… The Clark exhibit was fab and very informative. The way it’s set up I believe it is something …

Going To Kentucky

Leaving our comfy California to explore Kentucky for a month. My husband and I will be there through the month of December helping our daughter, son in law and two of our grand kids with their move.  My son in law has taken a new position with a nice promotion attached… They left their beach condo (having rented it out) in Carlsbad California a few weeks ago and have been our home roomies since then.  Looks like this fox is ready to make his move.  It hasn’t all been fun and games, but it has sure been fun! Allergies have been put to the test and are now on overload.  Momma (my daughter) had to make other accommodations for this pretty girl one night as the pet dander around our home has become too much for her over time.  I went to work with extreme dusting and vacuuming, hoping between this and keeping the little hairy culprit pup contained in it’s own room (lol), well I’m hoping it all helps.  An air purifier will be …

That’s Amore, in Long Beach California that is.

My husband and I are Airbnb’ing this  weekend in a fabulous little apt., in a gem of a building. What a lucky find! That gondola thing… On Saturday we took a stroll around the Naples area, Long Beach. It is just a short 10 minute drive from where we are staying.  And I give you the fabulous Hotel Broadlind.  Hallway to our private oasis.  A cute little common area that doubles as a wash room. There’s great classical music playing in here most of the day. It’s a lovely space to be in.  There are 2 small washers and dryers just to the right. We played a competitive though friendly 😉 game of checkers…  This is the beautiful garden balcony, we sat here and enjoyed our wine on our 1st evening. No need to go out, it was a perfect night, enjoyed each other’s co. in this welcoming space.  This little arch door leads back in…  On Saturday morning I stepped out for a jaunt around the neighborhood. When I got back I spotted the …

Big Bear Mountain in September

Big Bear, California Our little Airbnb on the mountain Our 1st day was fab. Weather was cool and crisp.  Yes, I’d say we were pretty high up, 7,500 feet I understand.  We arrived hungry. Highly recommend Jasper’s… located in the village  Split it, yup that’s dinner for 1 1st night… we enjoyed it, nice and cozy by the fire  Door view, aw….  Coffee in the open mountain air, sure was nice.  Here comes the sun Posole on the mountain sure hit the spot. (Posole is a Latin soup typically topped with many yummy condiments that add a tasty flair to the soup) Here’s a recipe link so you can learn more about it or even make it yourself. http://leitesculinaria.com/94587/recipes-red-pozole-pozole-rojo.html On our 1st morning we took a brisk walk to Pine Knot Marina  What a peaceful morning  Of course we worked up an appetite. This place is well known for delicious treats I went for the ice cream, boy was it delightful. A fudge treat on our next trip up… it’s already on the agenda!  Such a …

Meet Me At The Inn, The Mission Inn

Got in a quick getaway this weekend to the historic Mission Inn in Riverside California.  From the Mission Inn…  From its modest beginnings as a two-story adobe guest house in 1876 to its current position as an icon of breathtaking architecture, timeless beauty and old world charm, The Mission Inn is a place where history, grandeur and inspiration are found around every corner. The grand entry way Pool time is good time  Our Take 2 vow renewal spot some years back. Such a gorgeous space.  View below our room.  Just one of the grand hallways.  Front view of the chapel.  As seen in the courtyard.  Photo ops everywhere.  Those beautiful large doors leading into the chapel.  Took my morning coffee poolside.  Squeezed in every bit of pool time.  Needed the down time.  The Nanjing Bell  Beauty everywhere.  We shall return, again and again I’m sure of it!

Let’s Camp

All packed up and ready to roll…       We’ve been beach camping for years. It started as a neighborhood thing, then a neighborhood plus family thing, now… it’s just a thing, we have to do it. It’s like part of our whole. Our summers are not complete without it. And if we can’t camp summertime, fall works too!      Here are a some Dutch oven recipes for you to try on your next camping trip, enjoy!  http://50campfires.com/35-incredibly-easy-dutch-oven-recipes-camping/       Our corner spot, not our silver bullet… insert cry. 😦    Cheesy Chile Beans & Dutch Oven Cornbread, hit the spot.

Gone Snowshoeing…

In February, while on a home trade to Denver Co., we decided to head outdoors to explore. Oh what a treat, John Muir was right!   We had originally intended on snow-showing but that plan had to be scratched as conditions just weren’t optimal for it. I was lucky enough to get a small taste of what snowshoeing is like though. Boy was I thrilled as I parading around the visitors center, looking quite tourist-like (yes I know), before we set off on our wonderful hike. The trail… Oh but the sound of the wind making it’s way through the canyon, what an amazing delight. Family hikes are the best hikes… That snow, that hike, that mountain… what a delight. Aw, that fresh air though…   Friends for life, enjoying the beautiful outdoors together. Onward and upward… We did it! Trail complete! Sure it was a very short trail, but still for this California snow novice, it was quite an accomplishment.  Just to recap, hahaha, uh huh, what a thrill! Too hip got to go…….. 😉 This day …
